    Fabulous

I was very appreciative of the jug to make cups of tea. Thank you. Very comfortable, quiet and clean.

I would prefer to have a shower, not have to sit in the bath to wash my hair.It is not suitable for people with disabilities or who have trouble walking as there is no lift and the wooden stairs are steep.

    Very good

Very helpful staff. Conveniently placed and relatively inexpensive.

A very dark room with little natural light and yet low-power light- bulbs. The hotel has an old-fashioned and rather Spartan character, reflected in the furnishings and decor, which seems to suggest that too much comfort is bad for you. If you can experience that as quaintness rather than deprivation you'll enjoy it.

    Exceptional

This is a very quaint hotel. It's a step back in time. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, but has the furniture and decor of days gone bye. If you like old, interesting buildings, you'll love this.

    The great monumental atmosphere

Traces of moisture on the wall of bathroom

    Fabulous

Characterful historic building, good breakfast and clean.

On the wall to the right of the bed there were some squashed dead flies. A little run down for the price.

    Fabulous

Simple but functional Hotel in beautiful ancient building in the middle of the city centre of Gent. Very usefull for a city trip to Gent

    Very good

It's a beautiful old building and the internal decor is attractive and fits the setting. The breakfast was simple but tasty, good bread, good homemade jam. The staff were polite and helpful. The mosquito net over the window seemed excessive until I spent a night in another Ghent hotel, and had a sleepless night being bitten and buzzed.

It's a bit tatty; the bathroom in particular needed some work, with holes in the wall and some damp damage around the bath. The room was nice enough and was clean but it had a rather strong smell. It did seem a bit expensive for the level of comfort provided.

    Exceptional

When choosing a hotel my family and I took 3 things into consideration: price, location & a place that was pet friendly. Erasmus hotel offered all of these things. When we walked into the hotel (which reminded me a lot of a bed&breakfast) I was in awe by the beautiful 16th century decor. The staff were very friendly the room was really quaint & the breakfast which was included wonderful (very european). There were a few different types of meats, brotchen, croissants, breads, cheeses, varieties of cereal, orange juice, tea, etc. The hotel was 1 block from where they offered city boat tours/pubs/restaurants/gent castle and loads of other tourist attractions. Note: park @ church parking for 10euro for 24hrs for best deal. Will stay again

The close proximity to the centre

This hotel is dirty and tatty. there is no service and a lack of information in rooms. This is a beautiful building and has great potential to be a magnificent hotel

    Very good

It was a pleasant stay in a welcoming family-style small city centre hotel. The staff were professional and friendly. The building is 400 years old with great atmosphere. You have to be able to climb stairs. I did read one adverse comment about the hotel in a review. This comment was not justified.

You need to mention that the nearest multistory car park is in Sint Michiels Straat, about a five or ten minute walk away. The car park is good with 24 hour guard and is a reasonable price.

    Superb

We found the hotel extremely convenient and central to everything we wanted to see in Ghent

It was a pity we were not warned about the steep staircase

  • 6.6
    Good

    Location. Breakfast

Limited windows in room (velux only). No view other than roof and sky. Stairs to top floor. Teabags provided but no milk or coffee

  • 9.2
    Superb

The hotel is located on a quiet street close to the city center. There are several beautiful old common rooms on the ground floor. Our room was a large historic room with a huge fireplace. The staff was friendly and helpful.

There is no lift, and the place would not work for people who have problems climbing stairs.

    Fabulous

The Erasmus is ideally located close to the center but on a relatively quiet side street. Staff were always helpful. It may have but two stars, but it is an absolutely lovely place to stay.

  • 8.2
    Fabulous

The Erasmus Hotel is ideally placed right in the centre of Ghent, just a short walk away from the famous Korenlei and Graslei. The hotel, which occupies a building dating from the 16th or 17th century, is small and intimate and provides an authentic feel for old Ghent. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and breakfasts are very good. A nice touch is that the front door of the hotel is kept locked at all times and guests enter using their own key thus making the Erasmus feel more like a house than a traditional hotel.
